American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN skilled in OR Circulating, Pre-Op, and PACU care for a 13-week assignment requiring a CO or compact license and rotational call coverage.

Requirements

  • Active CO or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience required
  • 3 years of combined Pre-Op/OR/PACU experience preferred
  • Must have experience in all three areas:
    Pre-Op, OR Circulating, and PACU
  • ACLS certification required
  • CNOR certification preferred
  • Scrub experience preferred
  • Must be able to function as primary caregiver across all three surgical service areas

Responsibilities

  • Work in a surgical services department with 3 OR suites, 3 PACU/Pre-Op bays, and 1 anesthesia provider
  • Surgical case types include General, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology (cataract surgery), and Orthopedics (once to twice a month)
  • Day shift hours are 6:30am-2:30pm/3:00pm, Monday through Friday
  • May need to stay late on high case load days to complete surgical schedules
  • Rotational call required, averaging 1 to 2 days per week
  • Weekend call rotation is every other or every third weekend depending on staffing
  • Holiday coverage required as part of rotational call schedule
  • 40 hours guaranteed per week
  • Conduct patient assessments, document care, and provide emotional support throughout the surgical process
  • Coordinate patient transfers, recover patients post-surgery, and circulate surgical cases
  • Assist with processing instruments and equipment in central sterilizing
  • Prepare patients for surgery and provide patient education
  • Assist other surgical services staff members as needed
  • Follow infection control principles and departmental policies
  • Adhere to national standards set by IAHCSMM, AORN, ASGE, and ASPAN
  • Reports directly to the Surgical Services Manager or designee
  • Requires ability to perform effectively in highly stressful situations with strong communication skills
  • Physical demands include long periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting
  • Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases
