Ainscough Crane Hire has a rare opportunity in our Manchester Depot. We look for a Maintenance Supervisor to ensure smooth operation of heavy equipment and vehicles. You will lead by example, foster a culture of excellence in maintenance practices, and contribute to continuous improvement.

- Allocate work to the depot‑based maintenance team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
- Manage daily staffing levels, including holiday schedules, absence management, and overtime coordination.
- Oversee stock management to ensure optimal inventory levels for servicing and repairs.
- Coordinate servicing and maintenance activities for trailers, cranes, and other equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Take a hands‑on approach, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on a variety of equipment including mobile cranes, tower cranes, crawler cranes, HGVs, and light commercial vehicles.
- Prioritise work orders effectively, demonstrating strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Uphold our commitment to health and safety policies and procedures, maintaining a controlled environment for all maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, ensuring all records are up‑to‑date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Time served technician with a recognised industry qualification (City & Guilds/NVQ).
- Supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of mobile cranes, plant machinery, and heavy vehicles.
- Experience in work allocation and stock management.
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults on various equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and record‑keeping purposes.

- Ensure all vehicles leaving the depot after repair/maintenance are road‑legal and safe for use.
