Description
The Senior Accountant will join our growing Finance team as Flyer Defense continues to expand our business operations. The Senior Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintains the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts monthly, and every week to co-ordinate with AR & AP, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Maintains fixed asset schedule
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of general accounting; experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- 1-2 years government Accounting Experience preferred (within 2 years accounting experience)
- ERP experience: such as Infor (Syteline), Epicor Advantage or Quick Books Enterprise ERP preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software
- Strong Excel Skills Required
- Must have inventory/cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
