Adjunct Fire Technology Instructor

Overview

Antelope Valley College invites applications for a temporary, part‑time adjunct faculty position as a Fire Technology Instructor.

• Instruct students in the assigned discipline.
• Teach courses during day, evening, online, and/or off‑campus sites.

• Any bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience, or the equivalent.
• College work equivalent to a baccalaureate degree and two years of related occupational experience, or college work equivalent to an associate degree plus six years of occupational experience.
• Eight years of experience as a paid firefighter, fire officer, or fire instructor (part‑time experience prorated). Two years of which must include assignment as an instructor, trainer, or supervisor in a firefighting field.
• California State Fire Marshal Certified instructor 1A and 1B classifications, or successful completion of the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) M‑410 Facilitated Instructor course.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Assembly Bill 1725; Education Code 87360).

• Completion of Fire Instructor 1A, 1B, and/or NWCG M‑410 (facilitated instructor).
• Experience as a module leader / single resource boss, and/or a minimum of two years' work experience in Fire Prevention, Fire Protection Systems Inspector, Fire Protection Systems Engineer, or Fire Suppression.
• Demonstrated ethical leadership in the classroom.
• Other California State Fire Training instructor endorsements.

• CSTI Hazardous Materials Instructor Certification.
