Are you passionate about helping young adults find their footing in the "real world"? We are looking for a high-energy, empathetic, and organized para educator, with experience in job coaching and community-based skills instruction, to join our team.
You are a bridge between school and independence. You will work directly with students with diverse disabilities—mentoring them at job sites, teaching essential life skills, and helping them transition from the structured school environment to meaningful adult lives.
Responsibilities- On-Site Job
Coaching:
Travel with students to community work sites to provide 1:1 or small-group vocational training. - Skills Instruction:
Teach "soft skills" (professionalism, communication, punctuality) and "hard skills" (specific job tasks) tailored to each student's goals. - Independence Building:
Assist students in mastering public transportation, personal budgeting, and community navigation. - Data & Documentation:
Keep clear, concise records of student progress toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) transition goals. - Collaboration:
Work closely with the Transition Teacher, local businesses, and families to ensure students have the support they need to succeed.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED required (Associate's degree or Para-pro certification preferred). - Experience:
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities (specifically autism, intellectual disabilities, or developmental delays) is a major plus. - Mobility:
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record (you may be required to transport students in a district owned vehicle or meet them at community sites). - Mindset:
You are patient, adaptable, and a "proactive problem solver" who can think on your feet when a student faces a challenge in the community.
- Meaningful Impact:
You get to see the direct result of your work as students land their first jobs and gain independence. - Supportive Environment:
Work within a dedicated team of educators and therapists who share your mission. - Benefits:
Competitive school district benefits package including health, dental, and retirement plans.
