Qualifications and Skills:- Valid teaching certification appropriate for Teachers of the Visually Impaired
- Mastery of strategies and tools for teaching students with visual impairments
- Proficiency with Braille and adaptive technology for low vision/blind students
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with families and educational staff
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Understanding of best practices in accessible instruction and student advocacy
- Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to each student’s strengths and goals
- Adapt materials and activities for accessibility, including Braille and technology
- Assess student abilities and progress, documenting outcomes and recommendations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create inclusive learning environments
- Guide students in developing daily living and orientation & mobility skills
- Serve as a resource for faculty on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
