Position
Antelope Valley College is inviting applications for an adjunct (temporary, part-time) faculty position as a Fire Technology Instructor.
Responsibilities- Instruct students in the assigned discipline.
- Assignments may include teaching courses during the day, evenings, online courses, and/or off-campus sites.
- Any bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience.
- Any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
- College work equivalent to a baccalaureate degree and two years of related occupational experience, or college work equivalent to an associate degree plus six years of related occupational experience.
- Eight years’ experience as a paid firefighter, fire officer, or fire instructor (part-time experience prorated; two years must include instruction, training, or supervisory role).
AND California State Fire Marshal Certified instructor 1A and 1B classifications,
OR successful completion of NWCG Facilitative Instructor M-410. - Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Assembly Bill 1725; Education Code 87360).
- Completion of Fire Instructor 1A, 1B, and/or NWCG M-410 (facilitated instructor).
- Experience as a module leader/single resource supervisor, or at least two years in fire prevention, fire protection systems inspection, fire protection systems engineering, or fire suppression.
- Ethical leadership in the classroom.
- Other California State Fire Training instructor endorsements.
CSTI Hazardous Materials Instructor Certification.

- Two current letters of professional reference signed and dated within the last year.
