Position Title:Pathways Coordinator

Hourly Pay: $28

Location:Teen Tech Center, 727 Lancaster Blvd, Lancaster, CA 93535

Schedule:Full-time; standard hours 10:00AM - 7:00PM. Schedule varies based on operational needs. May require occasional evenings, weekends, or travel for events, college tours, employer visits, and community programming.

Reports to: Program Director of The Teen Tech Center

Scope: AVBGC-wide, with primary base at the Teen Tech Center

Position Summary

The Pathways Coordinator supports youth ages 12–18 in exploring and pursuing their post-secondary pathway, including college, careers, trades, certifications, or direct workforce entry. This role provides individualized guidance, skill-building, and meaningful experiences to help each participant successfully transition from high school.

The Coordinator develops and delivers Pathways programming through workshops, one-on-one coaching, employer and community partnerships, and hands-on learning opportunities that prepare youth for their next steps. Working with the Program Director, Regional Directors, site leaders, schools, families, and community partners, the Coordinator aligns programming with organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pathway Exploration and Individual Planning
  • Conduct individual pathway counseling sessions to help youth explore and identify potential post-secondary directions including college, trade school, certification programs, entrepreneurship, military service, or direct workforce entry based on their skills, interests, and values.
  • Administer age-appropriate career assessments, interest inventories, and self-reflection activities for participants ages 12–18.
  • Guide youth through self-assessment activities including strengths identification, values clarification, and goal setting to build the self-knowledge that underpins any successful pathway.
  • Develop and maintain individual Pathway Plans for each participant, updated regularly to reflect progress, shifting interests, and evolving goals.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local labor market trends, industry skill requirements, and post-secondary opportunities relevant to youth in the Antelope Valley.
College and Post-Secondary Preparation
  • Coordinate college application workshops covering FAFSA completion, essay writing, application processes, and informed decision-making across post-secondary options.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local colleges, universities, trade schools, and certification programs.
  • Facilitate college readiness workshops covering study skills, college life preparation, academic planning, and navigating campus resources.
  • Connect youth with college representatives, admissions counselors, and dual enrollment opportunities.
  • Ensure participants understand and can meaningfully evaluate the full range of pathways, including community college, trade programs, apprenticeships, and workforce entry alongside four-year options.
Workforce Readiness and Job Search Skills
  • Design and facilitate workshops covering resume writing, cover letter creation, interview preparation, professional communication, and workplace etiquette.
  • Teach effective job search strategies including online applications, networking, and professional follow-up.
  • Coordinate mock interview sessions and job application workshops using real-world scenarios.
  • Create and implement job readiness training that includes financial literacy, time management, and professional development.
  • Facilitate entrepreneurship and business development activities for participants interested in self-employment or small business ownership.
Portfolio Development and Pathways Showcase
  • Guide youth in creating comprehensive portfolios that showcase their skills, projects, certifications, and achievements in a format suited to their individual pathway.
  • Coordinate Pathways Showcase events where youth present their portfolios and projects to family members, professionals, and community partners.
  • Connect youth with community opportunities to display or present their work at local events, employer visits, and partner organizations.
