Overview
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource.
The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
Support and guide at-risk Antelope Valley youth, many of whom are directly and indirectly impacted by juvenile system involvement. Our program connects caring mentors with young people, providing positive support, encouragement, and guidance to help them build brighter futures. Mentors and mentees develop meaningful relationships through regular, structured meetings, offering stable support and role modeling during critical years of development.
QualificationsPlease note that all volunteers must be 21 years or older and commit to a minimum of one hour a week for a year.
Additional InformationSince our program is community-based, mentors take youth out into the community, which tends to be easier if volunteers have access to a car. There is a background check fee associated with the program to ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants. Sign up today! (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./MentorAV
