POSITION SUMMARY

Provides medical services to all patients as directed by the Medical Director. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the continuity of healthcare regardless of the presence/absence of disease. CCR 1480 (b).

WORK SCHEDULE

May be required to work beyond regularly scheduled hours, including overtime, and participate in on‑call coverage rotation assignments as necessary to meet patient care and operational needs.

CATEGORIES OF DUTIES
  • Performs physical examinations, employing a combination of nursing and medical functions approved by standardized procedures.
  • Diagnoses, treats, and prescribes medications under the supervision of the Medical Director and in accordance with Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice.
  • Orders lab and diagnostic work in compliance with the Medical Director’s written protocol for the treatment of specific illnesses or diseases.
  • Performs minor lacerations, as ordered and supervised by the Medical Director, according to his/her protocol.
  • Provides patients and their families with comfort and education/information about their medical care as needed.
  • Review laboratory values and diagnostic tests in a manner appropriate to the standard of care.
  • In case of a patient emergency, administer all appropriate care and ensure appropriate transfer of care to appropriate level of care via emergency medical system.
  • Discharge patients from the clinic with appropriate instructions and follow‑up care.
  • Identify possible infections, report, and document as appropriate; initiate standard precautions if needed.
  • Administers waived tests (urine pregnancy test, blood glucose test, UA drug screen, breath alcohol test, hemoglobin (HbA1c), and COVID 19 & flu A+B tests) and maintains annual waived testing requirements/trainings.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), ensuring all patient charts are closed on the same day as the visit.
  • Participates in a rotating on‑call schedule as assigned to provide clinical consultation, patient care, and operational support outside of regularly scheduled work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and after‑hours clinical support. Responds to calls, messages, and patient care needs within established response time requirements and in accordance with TTC policies and procedures.

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS
    • An active California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
    • An active California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
    • A Furnishing Number approved by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing, with advanced pharmacology courses and training.
    • A DEA Number issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration
    • A National Provider Identification number (NPI)
    • An active CPR certification
    • One (1) consecutive year working in a medical and/or psychiatric facility with experience in family care and/or internal medicine.
