Director Progressive Care Unit

The Director will maintain 24-hour accountability for the department while partnering with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care, improve clinical outcomes, and foster a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for the Progressive Care Unit
  • Oversee daily nursing operations, staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Develop departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives
  • Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and retain nursing staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development
  • Collaborate with physicians, department leaders, and support services
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, and hospital regulations
  • Monitor quality metrics, patient outcomes, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Lead patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement efforts
  • Manage departmental budgets and operational efficiencies
  • Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and professional development
  • Participate in strategic planning, leadership meetings, and hospital initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • BSN required
  • MSN strongly preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • CCRN certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive nursing leadership experience within a Critical Care or Progressive Care environment required
  • Strong knowledge of nursing operations, staffing, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in an acute care hospital preferred
