Director Progressive Care Unit
The Director will maintain 24-hour accountability for the department while partnering with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care, improve clinical outcomes, and foster a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide operational and clinical leadership for the Progressive Care Unit
- Oversee daily nursing operations, staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
- Develop departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives
- Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and retain nursing staff
- Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development
- Collaborate with physicians, department leaders, and support services
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, and hospital regulations
- Monitor quality metrics, patient outcomes, and performance improvement initiatives
- Lead patient safety, infection prevention, and quality improvement efforts
- Manage departmental budgets and operational efficiencies
- Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and professional development
- Participate in strategic planning, leadership meetings, and hospital initiatives
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BSN required
- MSN strongly preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS certification required
- CCRN certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience required
- Minimum 2 years of progressive nursing leadership experience within a Critical Care or Progressive Care environment required
- Strong knowledge of nursing operations, staffing, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in an acute care hospital preferred
