Education Coordinator – full‑time position.
RFK Community Alliance is seeking an Education Coordinator to join the leadership team at Don Watson Academy in Lancaster, MA. This full‑time position is ideal for a special education professional with strong knowledge of IEP development, educational leadership, and collaborative team management. The Education Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring high‑quality educational programming and compliance while supporting students, families, educators, and school districts.
Key Responsibilities- Review all new student referrals, including IEPs and related educational records, and communicate pertinent information to teachers and specialists.
- Partner with the Admissions Department to ensure referral documentation is complete and current.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and chair IEP meetings in collaboration with Local Education Agencies (LEAs), teachers, and families.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance of all student IEP documentation and records.
- Train and support teachers in collecting and tracking student data to inform IEPs and progress reporting.
- Supervise teaching staff in collaboration with the Program Director.
- Monitor timelines for required assessments and ensure timely completion and interpretation of evaluation results.
- Oversee the completion and submission of quarterly progress reports and report cards.
- Serve as the primary liaison with school districts and outside agencies regarding IEP development and implementation.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with LEAs across districts served by Don Watson Academy.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding IEP development and student progress.
- Collaborate with educational, clinical, and residential teams to support successful student transitions to less restrictive educational settings when appropriate.
- Coordinate accommodations and administer MCAS testing for eligible students.
- Identify and resolve IEP‑related concerns proactively to ensure student needs are met.
- Prepare transcripts and educational records upon request.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Required:
- Master's Degree in Education
- Minimum of two years of administrative or supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing IEP processes
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
