SUMMARYResponsible for developing manufacturing processes that minimize waste, maximize efficiency and increase the quality of finished products. Work closely with the engineering, quality, and production teams to improve existing processes and evaluate potential improvements. Work directly with vendors and customers to develop new formulas, or formula iterations. Manage associated documentation to support Process Engineering and R+D functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitoring and testing processes and products found in all phases of production
- Developing and implementing safety procedures for staff working with dangerous chemicals and hazardous materials
- Designing, planning and implementing the layout of manufacturing equipment to optimize production and decrease costs
- Creating and executing cleaning protocols and cleaning validations
- Staying up to date with new and emerging manufacturing processes
- Creating and executing process validations & equipment qualifications
- Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes
- Creating and presenting cost analysis reports to upper management
- Creating and executing bulk hold studies on finished and WIP goods
- Work directly with the process engineering department & QA/QC department to implement process improvements
- Work directly with the QA/QC department to facilitate required documentation
- Creating and modifying manufacturing records
- Creating new and modifying existing formulas
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present information to both internal and external customers. Knowledge of and experience with cGMP manufacturing facility a plus. Association with appropriate engineering, science and industry trade groups a plus. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; up to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
