SUMMARYThe Maintenance Manager will plan, organize, implement and manage activities, resources and people to maximize the availability of production equipment and facilities throughout the plant and office areas under minimal supervision. The Maintenance Manager will be tasked with customarily and regularly exercising discretion and independent judgment in decision making relative to the operation of the maintenance department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and administer department budget for the purpose of meeting department objectives.
- Develop, recommend, and administer policies, procedures, and processes in support of maintenance operations; implement and monitor compliance with approved policies, procedures, and processes.
- Supervise and oversee activities of all maintenance team members, conduct performance reviews, recommend salary increases, and administer disciplinary action; provide training and development for new and existing employees.
- Participate in meetings, and serve on committees to communicate pertinent information relative to the maintenance department.
- Serve as a key team member for capital expenditure and infrastructure projects.
- Serve as a key member of the safety committee to provide expert guidance in safety matters related to equipment and facilities.
- Maintain frequent contact with outside contractors and vendors coordinating their activities to ensure cost, timeliness, quality of work and adherence to all company and regulatory requirements.
- Develop job/project priorities in conjunction with the Production Managers.
- Oversee the preventative maintenance program.
- Document maintenance activities through implementing a daily/weekly planning process.
- Research and institute equipment and technology upgrades to stay competitive in the manufacturing of products and to reduce time and frequency of employee contact with product.
- Help develop specifications for new and used equipment.
- Meet at least monthly with the Senior Director, Operations to report on progress and planning.
- Serve as Facility Sanitation Supervisor
- Implement excellent sanitation practices which support company’s processes and procedures ensuring highest quality products are produced in a thoroughly clean environment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Prioritize tasks to ensure that plant cleaning requirements are fulfilled.
- Ensure the necessary tools, supplies and equipment are available to perform sanitation tasks effectively.
- Inspect premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.
- Confer with management and production personnel on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of product.
- Compile required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, ordinances, statutes, regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for supervising 6-8 employees.

Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential to this position. Must have excellent computer skills (MS Office); management and supervisory experience or training. Familiarity with PLC’s and SCADA would be helpful.
Industry experience with processing and packaging equipment such as steam kettles, blenders, mixers, tablet presses, fillers, cappers, cartoners and labelers would be very helpful. Experience working with the trades and have an understanding of machining and electrical skills preferred.
