Education

$27.53 per hour

• Provides instruction in basic education needs (reading, writing, mathematics)
• Assesses educational needs of inmates
• Develops lesson plans and individual assignments
• Provides instruction and individual assistance
• Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
• Maintains discipline and/or security
• Counsels students concerning performance, behavior, and personal problems
• Attends meetings as required
• Prepares records and reports (enrollment, grades, student progress)
• Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
• Researches, selects, and recommends new teaching materials
• Attends in‑service training sessions and workshops for professional development
• Performs other duties as assigned

Current Teacher Certificate appropriate for the grade level and area of specialization;
Teacher 1, must also have a baccalaureate degree or less.

All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. Testing will also be performed for the presence of marijuana. An applicant with a positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a recommendation for medical marijuana.

The final applicant selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant’s prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
