Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education
- Hold an Ohio Special Education Teacher’s Certificate in at least one of the areas of students with disabilities to be supervised
- Hold an educational administrative specialist, principal, or supervisor certificate
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching and/or supervisory or administrative experience. (Administrative experience is highly desirable).
- Required criminal background check
- Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
Reports To:
Liberty Union-Thurston Local Director of Student Services and Liberty Union Elementary Principal
Job Goal:
Provide direction and organizational structure to the student services staff in the implementation of policies and procedures related to Federal and State laws for special education, Preschool, and other areas of student services at the elementary school, as assigned.
Performance Responsibilities
Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the ESC’s curriculum and instructional programs.Assists with programs in, but not limited to the following areas: special education programs for students with disabilities, preschool, Section 504Collaborates the delivery and continuous improvement of special education programsCollaboration of the delivery of student services, which supplement and support the district’s other educational programs and activitiesConsults with the elementary principal on aspects of program implementation in the schoolAssists with mandated reports for submission to the Ohio Department of EducationAssists building administration by interpreting district policies and procedures relating to students with disabilitiesProvides leadership and direction to administrators, psychologists, general education and special education staff for the implementation of Federal law and Ohio rules for educating students with disabilitiesProvides clear guidance to administrators and staff on Response to Intervention and Multi-Tiered Systems of ResponseActively provides leadership and direction to administrators, school counselors, and staff regarding requirements under Section 504Participates in the placement of students with disabilities in alternative placements, including schools outside the district, scholarship, court placed, fostered outAssists in developing district-wide policies concerning special education programs and student servicesDevelops procedures to maintain complete individual records of all children enrolled in special educationRecommends the approval of supplies, instructional materials, and curriculum used by special education, preschool, and ELL staff.Advises all personnel on rules and regulations regarding all programs that relate to special education, Section 504, preschool and student servicesCollaborating in the processes and procedures to ensure the accurate reporting of special education as it impacts the EMIS data managementMaintain an appropriate and professional rapport with coworkers & studentsCommunicate effectively with supervisorEnsure safety of studentsPromote positive public relationsServe as a role model for studentsProvide internal and external reports and presentations as requestedMaintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., test scores, student/personnel informationSuccessfully completes all district training requirements in a timely mannerComply with all Board of Education policiesOther duties as assigned by Superintendent or her/his designeeRequired Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Other Responsibilities
