Overview
The Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking motivated, qualified applicants for a full-time Paralegal position. The mission of the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office is to serve the citizens of Fairfield County by pursuing justice, protecting the public against criminal activity, and providing timely and competent legal services to clients. Successful candidates will further that mission by demonstrating professionalism, a positive attitude, and exemplary work ethic.
The position requires effective communication skills, the ability to work efficiently and independently, and a strong commitment to public service. Candidates must follow all office policies and procedures and must be comfortable in a fast‑paced, team environment.
- Preparing subpoenas and legal process
- Compiling and responding to requests for discovery
- Securing the appearance of witnesses for grand jury and court proceedings
- Answering phones and managing public walk-ins
- Obtaining and categorizing evidence in preparation for litigation
- Reviewing and summarizing jail calls, business records, and police records
- Managing attorney/office calendars
- Tracking statistical data
- Preparing public service announcements and press releases
- Fielding questions/concerns from clients, witnesses, and the public.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or three years of experience in the legal field
- Ability to analyze and process records (e.g., police, medical, laboratory, and legal records)
- Demonstrated commitment to public service and the mission of seeking justice
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, demanding, professional work environment
- Proficient with technology (familiarity with MATRIX software a plus)
