Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing seeks an experienced Stepdown RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Lancaster, Ohio. The role involves monitoring patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical units, providing specialized nursing interventions, administering medications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications- One year of recent Stepdown RN experience
- Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification
- NIHSS certification
- Additional relevant certifications and licenses
A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to general inpatient units, requiring frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions. The nurse assesses complex patient needs, administers medications, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and ensures safe, patient‑centered care.
Essential Work Functions- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, focusing on cardiac care.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during cardiac procedures and examinations.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions, and notify supervisors or physicians of cardiac status.
- Respond to life‑saving situations per nursing standards and hospital protocols.
- Document nursing history and physical assessments for assigned telemetry patients.
- Initiate patient education plans regarding cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties within scope of practice as assigned.
- Adhere to safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, and PC skills.
- Physical Abilities: Ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
