Emergency Room Nurse

The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co-workers and delegation of role appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care of each patient according to the nursing process.
  • Provides quality care based on assessment needs and established plans of care.
  • Educates patients and families from admission through discharge.
  • Documents the nursing process accurately and legibly.
  • Notifies physicians of pertinent observations and changes in patient status.
  • Administers medications and performs treatments safely and accurately.
  • Implements physician orders as written.
  • Ensures equipment and supplies are available for patient care and reports any malfunctions.

Physical Capacity Demand:
Medium work:
Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible up to 10 pounds of force often.

Job Considerations:
Requires strong communication and collaboration abilities, problem-solving and time management skills, and sound judgment. Potential exposures may include electrical equipment. No special environmental considerations or protective equipment are required.
