General Maintenance Worker II

Overview

Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician II to join our operations and maintenance team in Lancaster, Ohio. This position is responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing repairs to fixtures and systems in a critical infrastructure environment. Working under minimal supervision as a member of a self‑directed work team, this is a multi‑craft position that may perform machine repairs, general non‑licensed maintenance work, and support other licensed trades as directed.

It requires good working knowledge of all types and applications of equipment pertaining to maintenance and operations, and the ability to work within machine tolerances. Maintenance may also involve carpentry, painting, and sheet metal duties.

• Perform planned maintenance on all building equipment and related services for a specific area while being sensitive and responsive to customer needs.
• Operate and maintain HVAC equipment and systems for the facility.
• Demonstrate proficiency with pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, air dryers, compressors, and other mechanical equipment as necessary.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections.
• Develop and implement planned maintenance procedures, perform job estimates, and maintain spare parts inventory.
• Keep stock persons informed of parts consumed from inventory.
• Assist in installing, inspecting new equipment and servicing installations.
• Provide support to co‑workers, contractors, vendors, project managers, building managers, and engineers as necessary to support project and renovation work.
• Comply with all governmental, company, and industrial regulations, codes, and standards, health‑safety practices, and permit systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Respond and provide service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Safely perform functions of the position, including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing required PPE.
• Operate various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
• Operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
• Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility in day‑to‑day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

• High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
• Three years of experience as an HVAC/R Maintenance Technician or Facility Maintenance Technician in a data center, industrial environment, hospital, laboratory, manufacturing facility, or a demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
• Willingness to pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.

• Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, stretch, and move in a 90‑degree range.

• Read and understand information in documents or displayed on a computer screen.
• Use a variety of office equipment and operate a computer keyboard to access databases, send/receive messages, and prepare documents.
• Attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer, and/or vendor locations, including occasional air travel to more distant locations.
