South Central Power Company is offering a
paid summer internship within our fleet department. This position will report to the fleet services manager and work out of our Lancaster, Ohio office.
As a fleet intern, you’ll work alongside experienced mechanics and learn the day-to-day operations of a professional fleet maintenance shop in the power industry. The intern will have the opportunity to job shadow and complete a variety of tasks including:
- light-duty oil changes
- basic trailer inspections (non DOT)
- run parts and shuttle vehicles as needed (based on qualifications and license)
- restock inventory
- regular shop maintenance
- assist with preventative maintenance tasks such as: changing light bulbs, adding fluids, wiper blade replacement, tire pressure checks, washing and refueling trucks
Candidates must be self-motivated, bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Students at least 18 years old entering their senior year of high school and are enrolled in coursework pertaining to diesel mechanic, or small-engine mechanic program (such as a career center or vocational program) are encouraged to apply. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
This internship is expected to last a period of three to six months. A schedule will be determined based on the qualified candidate’s needs.
