Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to support day-to-day accounting operations within a collaborative finance team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to expand their experience across general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts payable/receivable. The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
- Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Process and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Review, code, and reconcile invoices and expense reports.
- Assist with accruals, prepaid expense schedules, and fixed asset tracking.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with annual audits and other financial reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate financial information.
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- 1–3+ years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, Accounting Specialist, Accounting Coordinator, or similar role.
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
. - Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas.
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (Quick Books, Sage, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, etc.).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, or corporate accounting environment.
- Exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, audit support, or payroll.
- CPA candidate or desire to pursue professional accounting certifications is a plus.
