Position Summary
As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Human Services, you will be part of a friendly and mission-focused environment. Responsibilities- Scanning and Imaging:
Scan and categorize documents and update electronic image sets accurately - Equipment Care:
Clean scanners and multi‑function devices according to instructions - Data Entry:
Input data into automated systems with precision - Information Inquiry:
Access systems to look up needed case information - Office Support:
Prepare letters and forms, file documents, greet visitors, and sort incoming materials - Communication:
Discuss procedures and needs with your supervisor as required
- Seasonal full‑time employment – typically runs for 6‑8 months during the fall and winter seasons.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch.
- Free parking.
- Work conditions: assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. Employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs.
- Telework:
May be eligible to telework part‑time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. You must have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary:
Starting hourly salary of $18.83 (before taxes) for candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent federal government job title) OR
- High‑school graduation OR
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Hiring preference given to candidates who live within Dauphin County. If no eligible candidates from Dauphin County apply, others may be considered.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Conditional offer of employment requires submission of criminal history reports.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. §7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.
