THE POSITION
As a Clerical Assistant 2 for the Department of Human Services' Somerset County Assistance Office, you will help keep the office running with steady and reliable support. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This role supports daily office operations by processing information, assisting visitors, and organizing records. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Scanning and Imaging:
Scan documents, maintain electronic images, and keep equipment clean - Data Entry:
Input information into required automated systems with accuracy - Information Inquiry:
Access automated systems to obtain needed details - Record Filing:
Organize, file, and purge case records according to schedules - Visitor Assistance:
Greet visitors, record information, and answer basic questions - Material Distribution:
Review, sort, and distribute information to the correct staff

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Non-permanent, full-time, seasonal employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Telework:
This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Somerset, PA.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $18.46 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
