The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer is seeking a skilled, collaborative, and passionate Organist to support and strengthen the musical life of our growing parish.

The Organist serves as a partner in the parish’s ministry of worship by accompanying congregational singing, playing the organ for liturgies, and occasionally leading and accompanying the small parish choir. The position works in close creative collaboration with the Rector.

Redeemer is entering an exciting season of vitality and growth, and we see this position as an opportunity to continue developing a vibrant and engaging music program.

Rooted in the Anglican musical tradition, our worship draws broadly from The Hymnal 1982 and other Episcopal resources, as well as selected music from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) and Roman Catholic/OCP traditions. We hope to expand the range and richness of our musical expression while maintaining the beauty and integrity of Episcopal liturgy.

• 01 Sunday & Holy Days Serve as organist for regularly scheduled Sunday services and designated holy days and special liturgies.
• 02 Congregational Singing Support strong congregational singing through thoughtful and confident hymn accompaniment.
• 03 Parish Choir Lead and accompany the parish choir.
• 04 Repertoire Select preludes, postludes, anthems, service music, and other appropriate repertoire in collaboration with the Rector.
• 05 Preparation Prepare music thoroughly, including registrations, accompaniments, and seasonal repertoire.
• 06 Planning Participate in quarterly worship and music planning meetings with the Rector.
• 07 Weddings & Funerals Provide or coordinate music for weddings and funerals as needed.
• 08 Substitutes Arrange qualified substitutes when unavailable.
• 09 Musical Partnership Cultivate opportunities for broader musical participation and creative partnerships within the parish.

We seek someone who is

• A capable organist and accompanist.
• A team player — collaborative, dependable, and comfortable working as part of a ministry team.
• Knowledgeable about, or eager to grow in, the Anglican/Episcopal musical tradition.
• Interested in building a music ministry rather than simply maintaining one.
• Creative and open to a range of sacred musical traditions.
• Supportive of the mission and worshiping life of an Episcopal congregation.
