The Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant with the Department of Corrections provides an opportunity to guide individuals as they build skills for their future. This position supports the daily flow of inmate employment, payroll, and job assignments while helping maintain accurate institutional records. It also assists with reentry efforts that prepare inmates for their transition back into the community. As a Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant, you will perform the following duties:
- Record Management: Maintain and update information on inmate receptions, bed assignments, job placements, and related data
- Payroll Support: Process monthly inmate payroll and verify accuracy of reported work hours and pay rates
- Work Assignment Coordination: Help update and track inmate job assignments, evaluate work progress, and support decisions on appropriate placements
- Reentry Assistance: Collect and maintain required documents for reentry, coordinate support programs, and assist with resource availability
- Inmate Guidance: Meet with inmates to address work concerns and resolve payroll issues
- Program Support: Assist with scheduling community work programs and proctor inmates during Pell Grant classes

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes)

- Three years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
- You must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the Residency Guidelines
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
