Located in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a part-time Prevention Specialist. This role is for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and compassionate individual who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of youth.
Responsibilities- Program Delivery: Lead prevention programs in schools and community sites based on approved methods.
- Community Engagement: Represent the agency in meetings and groups that work to lower risk factors.
- Resource Development: Prepare and share educational materials that support prevention goals.
- Training Support: Guide teachers and service providers through training sessions and evaluations.
- Assessment Work: Gather feedback and assess needs by speaking with school staff and reviewing data.
- Record Management: Enter program details into required systems and maintain accurate files.
- Seasonal, full-time employment.
- Start time and hours depend on the school schedule; employee works during the school year and may be required to work during other times, including evenings, and may have overnight or out‑of‑county travel for meetings or training.
- Telework: Telework is not an option for this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, Education, the Social or Behavioral Sciences, or related fields and one year experience in drug and alcohol prevention work.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Other Requirements:
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
