Permanent Position Beginning August 2026

The Upper Darby School District is seeking applicants certified as Speech and Language Pathologists.

Qualifications
  • PA Instructional Certificate in Speech and Language Pathologist (PK-12)
  • Out‑of‑state educators and emergency certification seekers must review PA Department of Education guidelines
  • BA required in appropriate major; a master’s preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of content in certification area
  • Classroom/group management skills
  • Ability to use instructional materials and equipment
  • Knowledge of child growth and development
  • Instructional skills
  • Planning skills
  • Human Relations skills
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff, and parents
Major Function
  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to speech and/or language impaired students
  • Serve as a resource and collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff to implement therapy suggestions in students’ daily activities
  • Help reduce or eliminate speech/language impairments that interfere with the individual student’s ability to benefit from the district’s educational program
  • Provide diagnostic evaluation to children referred and interpret assessment results to staff and parents
