Math Club AdvisorThe Math Club is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students interested in mathematics at Marple Newtown High School and offers students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships.

Qualifications- Experience: Experience working with school-age students in mathematics, coordinating and managing events.
- Skills: Strong command of the mathematics curriculum and exceptional managerial, organizational, and communication skills.
- Education: Valid PA teaching certificate.
- A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members.
- Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion.
- Advisors supervise all club‑related events and meetings while supporting and building lasting relationships.
- Advisors maintain a list of active members and prepare students for multiple competitions throughout the year.
- Advisors coordinate all aspects of competitions/contests, including scheduling, facilitating, and following all processes for board approval to participate in events, requesting transportation, requesting a school nurse (if applicable), collecting money, etc.
- Prepare students, plan, and coordinate all items related to testing material for the AMC 10, AMC 12, AIME (for those who qualify), and USAMO (for those who qualify). Students do not have to participate in the club to take the listed assessments.
- Manage club operations, maintaining accurate records of members, member history, testing history, and finances (if applicable).
- If requested, assist with the Mu Alpha Theta induction ceremony.
- Ensure that students who have not paid the fee do not participate in events, competitions, and/or contests.
- Have read and understand obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.
- Other duties as assigned by Administration.
September – June; meet 1 week per week for an hour; 8–10 events per year.
Students EnrolledApproximately 40 students.
ClearancesIn accordance with the school code, Act 24 and all related clearances.
