Long-term Substitute Music Teacher
Job DescriptionThis is a long-term substitute position for the remainder of the school year JOB GOAL:
To ensure that each student will think critically, communicate effectively, understand cultural heritage and diversity, respect human dignity and be responsible to self and community and become a contributing member of society.
1. Perform instrumental music, vocalize, conduct, compose, and improvise. Able to move to complex rhythms.
2. Provide performing opportunities for students.
3. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
4. Maintain good classroom organization, management and discipline.
5. Conduct an ongoing assessment of student progress in order to provide instruction to ensure continuous student growth.
6. Provide School District of Lancaster Music Program for each student in conjunction with the goals of the Strategic Plan.
7. Demonstrate appropriate planning, the use of a variety of instructional techniques and strategies, and the incorporation of technology where possible to supplement instruction.
8. Maintain student records including all required paperwork.
9. Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. 10. Pursue ongoing professional growth opportunities. 11. Plan purposeful assignments for volunteer(s). 12. Attend staff meetings, and department meetings and serve on building and District committees as required.
1. Maintain musical instrument inventory.
2. Maintain all uniforms and choir gowns where applicable.
3. Participate in District musical functions.
1. Appropriate PA teacher certification. 2. BA required in appropriate major study, masters preferred but not required.
3. Must be able to organize a classroom to deliver the School District of Lancaster Music program.
4. Strong communication and motivational skills.
5. Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

Evaluation will be determined according to Teacher Contract Evaluation.
