As a Transportation Technician with the Department of Transportation, you will support construction projects that benefit travelers and communities across the Commonwealth. Responsibilities- Assist in inspecting materials and field work to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Examine project records and verify that quantities, calculations, and payments follow department standards.
- Participate in audits of estimates and work orders to confirm correctness and proper documentation, and find and resolve discrepancies.
- Use online database systems to support project documentation, reviews, and audits.
- Help prepare, organize, and archive project documents according to department policy.
- Support construction personnel by reviewing specifications, sampling methods, and related requirements.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. - Vendor controlled hours; schedule may be subject to change due to seasonal or operational needs.
- Telework: not an option.
- Starting annual salary: $40,685.00 (before taxes).
- One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, including reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- You must meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
