Mechanical Project Engineer
The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for delivering engineering support to production, maintenance, and plant operations. This role focuses on managing capital and improvement projects from concept through execution, ensuring safety, efficiency, and alignment with plant goals. The position requires strong expertise in mechanical systems, project management, and thermal/combustion engineering, with the ability to lead projects ranging from small upgrades to large-scale capital investments.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full project lifecycle: concept, scope, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Lead projects ranging from $10K to $5M
- Develop project schedules and track progress to meet deadlines
- Monitor project budgets and ensure cost control
- Provide mechanical engineering support to production and maintenance teams
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, especially related to thermal and combustion systems
- Support design, fabrication, and installation of mechanical equipment
- Participate in the plant's 5-year capital planning process
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and justification documentation
- Support vendor selection and bid evaluation
- Ensure all projects comply with safety standards and regulations
- Prepare contractor safety documentation
- Lead safety meetings and ensure safe project execution
- Coordinate with internal teams (production, maintenance, engineering)
- Manage contractors, vendors, and external partners
- Ensure successful project startup, acceptance, and closeout
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 2+ years of manufacturing or project engineering experience
- Minimum 1+ year of Thermal/Combustion Engineering experience
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial equipment
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (No visa sponsorship available)
- 5+ years of manufacturing or project engineering experience
- 2+ years of Thermal/Combustion Engineering experience
- Experience with furnaces, heat systems, or combustion equipment
- Strong project management and coordination skills
- Thermal / Combustion Engineering expertise
- Project management and execution
- Mechanical systems knowledge
- Budgeting and cost control
- Strong communication and teamwork
