Materials Engineer | Medical Device Industry
We're partnering with a growing medical device manufacturer to hire a Materials Engineer to support product development from concept through commercialization.
This role will lead material selection, qualification, characterization, and change assessments while collaborating with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to ensure product performance, patient safety, and compliance with global regulations.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in medical devices or regulated manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of ISO 10993, ISO 14971, FDA regulations, and EU MDR
- Experience with material characterization, validation testing, and risk assessment
- Familiarity with injection molding, extrusion, GD&T, and CAD tools (Solid Works preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
What You'll Do
- Lead material selection and qualification activities
- Evaluate material, supplier, manufacturing, and sterilization changes
- Support regulatory submissions and technical documentation
- Assess biocompatibility and chemical characterization data
- Partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams to support new product development and manufacturing operations
