Estimator, Engineering, Mechanical Engineer

GSM Industrial, a Lancaster, PA-based custom fabricator and mechanical contractor, is seeking an Estimator - Industrial Mechanical. In this role, you will prepare accurate estimates for industrial metal fabrication, machining, and mechanical installation projects. Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and specs, performing takeoffs, gathering vendor quotes, and developing detailed cost breakdowns and proposals. You'll collaborate with project managers and shop teams in a safety-first, family-owned environment that values craftsmanship, reliability, teamwork, and long-term career growth.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, and site information to prepare detailed industrial mechanical estimates
• Perform quantity takeoffs for fabrication, machining, installation, and maintenance scopes
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for materials and services
• Develop cost breakdowns, labor and equipment estimates, and project schedules for bids
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to refine scopes and budgets
• Prepare professional proposals and support sales with pricing and technical clarifications
• Track estimate performance versus actual costs to improve future pricing accuracy
• Support value engineering and constructability reviews to improve competitiveness
• Maintain estimating databases, unit costs, and historical job cost records
• Promote and adhere to GSM Industrial's safety-first, quality-focused culture
