Environmental Compliance Specialist

The Environmental Compliance Specialist oversees environmental compliance throughout the lifecycle of complex energy and infrastructure projects, from development and construction through commissioning and operational transition. This role ensures regulatory and permit obligations are effectively incorporated into project execution while guiding teams through compliance risks, field issues, and agency requirements.

As an Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will:

• Translate environmental permits, regulations, and project commitments into practical requirements for internal teams and contractors.
• Create and enhance compliance programs, procedures, tracking systems, and project-specific implementation plans.
• Coordinate environmental inspections, monitoring activities, training, documentation, reporting, schedules, and associated cost planning.
• Partner with engineering, construction, operations, legal, consultants, and field teams to identify compliance concerns and drive corrective actions.
• Lead environmental compliance efforts for high-risk or complex projects, including regulatory agency interactions, audits, incident management, and operational transitions.
• Monitor contractor performance and help ensure environmental obligations are fulfilled throughout project execution.

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of broad environmental experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal capabilities with a consistent commitment to workplace safety.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard PC applications.
• Preferred experience designing and executing environmental compliance programs for large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
• Preferred knowledge of permit tracking, contractor compliance, regulatory agency coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
