Tax Account Collections Technician – Bureau of Compliance Wage Garnishment, Bank Attachment Section 2
Responsibilities- Collect delinquent taxes by working with taxpayers, employers, and financial institutions through wage garnishment and bank attachment processes.
- Assist taxpayers by explaining requirements and reviewing required documents.
- Research accounts to determine liability, identify missing filings or payments, and update records.
- Enter account changes and payment information into required systems.
- Manage cases from creation through follow‑up, including wage garnishment and bank attachment actions.
- Apply payments correctly and create vouchers based on the type received.
- Request liens and assessments when necessary to move cases toward resolution.
- Three years of experience reviewing tax documents and applying tax laws, rules, and regulations, or in the collection of taxes, or in the provision of taxpayer assistance, or a combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Eligibility to work in the United States as required by federal background‑check and citizenship/residency verification under IRS Publication 1075.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch break. - Telework up to three days per week upon successful completion of required in‑office training and a secure, high‑speed internet connection.
- Starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes) for new employees with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) subject to IRS Publication 1075.
- Must pass an enhanced background check, including federal records, state police clearance, local law enforcement check, and citizenship/residency verification.
