Election and Voter Registration Clerk

Job Overview

This position involves clerical work performed in support of city-wide primary, general, and special elections. Employees rotate among various work assignments and locations due to the cyclical nature of election and voter registration activities.

• Register citizens to vote, including recording new registrations and updating voter rolls.
• Prepare, proofread, file, and post paper and electronic election applications.
• Prepare election supplies for each polling site and receive voter and candidate documents.
• Check returned materials and assist the department in meeting legally mandated deadlines.
• Process voter registration applications through the Pennsylvania Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors.
• Dispense information on the registration and election processes and provide guidance to voters during election periods.
• Perform tasks under the supervision of an Election and Voter Registration Clerk Supervisor.

• Education:
  
  Completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent (high school diploma or GED).
• Experience:
  
  Six months of full‑time paid experience in one of the following areas:
  • Processing voter registration applications in the Pennsylvania Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors.
  • Preparing and conducting primary, general, and special elections.

  General clerical experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year‑for‑year basis, up to a maximum of two years.

Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
