Installation Fire Chief

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking a driven Installation Fire Chief at Fort Indiantown Gap. This position gives you the chance to lead fire protection efforts that make a direct impact on the safety of the entire installation. You will guide a skilled team, strengthen modern fire prevention programs, and take charge during major emergency operations. This position directs fire protection operations at Fort Indiantown Gap and ensures that the fire station meets mission needs and safety standards. As a Installation Fire Chief, you will perform the following duties:

• Station Leadership: Lead operations, oversee staff activities, and coordinate mission-focused tasks
• Policy Oversight: Establish and review policies, procedures, goals, and mission objectives to improve performance
• Emergency Response: Direct staff and issue instructions during crash, fire, and urgent situations
• Training Management: Develop master training programs, evaluate needs, and ensure firefighters meet certification requirements
• Resource Planning: Assess resource requirements and recommend equipment, training, and contract service acquisitions
• Supervisory Duties: Complete performance reviews, approve leave, manage staffing, and guide employee development
• Interagency Coordination: Maintain strong relationships with police, safety officials, and municipal and other federal fire departments

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

• Two years as an Installation Firefighter Supervisor, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Six years of firefighting experience as a member of a municipal or governmental fire department that includes two years in a supervisory capacity and possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.

• You must possess Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, Airport Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Operations, Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certifications issued by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or the National Professional Qualifications System (NPQS).
• You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
• You must initially and annually meet the physical fitness and agility standards of Department of Defense Manual 6055.05, Occupational Medical Examinations:
  Medical Surveillance and Medical Qualification.
• You must obtain within one year of hire and maintain over the course of employment a valid Class B Pennsylvania commercial driver’s license.
• You must obtain within one year of hire and maintain over the course of employment valid Driver/Operator Pumper, Driver/Operator Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter (ARFF), Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply, and Driver/Operator Aerial certifications from an organization accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualifications System (NPQS).
