The primary purpose of your position is to establish referral sources and to obtain required information and admit residents in an efficient manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor. The Admissions Director is responsible for the timely conversion of referrals to admissions and facilitation of an effective resident / patient admission process. They are also the community liaison for non-medically related public contact.
Requirements of the Admissions Director:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED
- Prior admissions experience in health care facilities.
- Ability to type is required. Be knowledgeable in the use of computers, data input, retrieval and output functions, etc.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as must be willing to handle residents, staff, and visitors, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.
Responsibilities of the Admissions Director:
- Assist in interviewing residents, guardians, sponsors, and obtaining required admission information and signatures.
- Admit and prepare identification records for residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Review and explain the resident, and/or guardian, room rates, billing procedures, visitors or guest privileges, restrictions, resident care procedures, etc., as appropriate.
- Notify nursing service and call for assistance, as necessary, if resident is disturbed or violent upon admission or if resident shows symptoms of infectious or communicable disease.
- Keep abreast of current Medicare or Medicaid regulations governing admission and discharge requirements of health care facilities.
- Conduct tours and initiate application for admission (demographic, clinical, and financial data).
- Maintain a written record of the resident’s complaints and/or grievances that indicates the action taken to resolve the complaint and the current status of the complaint.
- Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support personnel, etc., to assure that the residents’ needs are continually met.
