Business Systems/ Tech Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Science Manager
#1 Cochran is the largest and most recognized automotive retailer in Southwestern Pennsylvania, seeking a business-focused IT Business Systems Analyst to help drive better decisions across the organization through data, analytics, and process improvement.
This role sits at the intersection of business, data, and technology. You’ll partner with leaders across the organization to turn data into insights, improve processes, and support more informed decision‑making.
You’ll be part of a team helping modernize how #1 Cochran uses data across the business, supporting major initiatives and improving how decisions are made every day. This role plays a key part in several of Cochran’s most important initiatives, including our transition to Tekion, advancement of pricing and analytics capabilities, and ongoing efforts to standardize, centralize, and influence how data is used across the business.
This is not a back‑office reporting role. It’s an opportunity to grow into a business‑facing role that influences how the business operates and evolves.
What you’ll do:- Partner with business leaders to understand problems and support better operational and financial decisions through data
- Translate business needs into insights, data models, and reporting solutions
- Design and deliver dashboards and reporting (Power BI, Solver, Tekion) that are clear, actionable, and trusted
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and contribute to discussions that drive action
- Help improve data consistency, definitions, and flow across systems and teams
- Support key initiatives including system modernization (Tekion), pricing and analytics capabilities, and data standardization
- Work within the IT Project Management Office framework to prioritize and deliver solutions aligned to business impact
- Contribute to pilots of new tools and approaches, helping evaluate effectiveness and support adoption
- Your work helps leaders better understand performance and make more informed decisions
- Reporting becomes more consistent, reliable, and actionable
- You contribute to measurable improvements in efficiency or business outcomes
- You take ownership of your work and follow through on problems from analysis to resolution
- You build strong relationships and become a trusted resource for business teams
- 1–3 years of experience working with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
- Working knowledge of SQL Server/Microsoft Fabric and data modeling concepts (Power Query, DAX, etc.)
- Programming knowledge of Python or R is a plus
- Experience working with stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to connect data to business context
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain insights clearly to non‑technical audiences
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and build relationships across teams
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Curiosity and a desire to grow into a more strategic, business‑facing role
- Having a strong attention to detail or quality
- You take initiative and look for ways to improve how things work
- You’re comfortable in a fast‑moving, evolving environment
- You’re open to learning and expanding your skillset
- You want to grow beyond reporting into a more strategic role over time
