American Marine Canvas & Upholstery is a leading provider of custom marine canvas and upholstery for luxury yachts, sportfish, and large vessels across South Florida. We pride ourselves on using advanced 3D digital technology and the highest quality materials to deliver exceptional products. We are seeking a detail-orientated and proactive Purchasing Manager or Assistant Purchasing Manager to join our team in United, Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s supply of products and materials. This role is critical to our operations, ensuring that we have the necessary high-quality materials to meet our production deadlines and exceed client expectations. This position can be adapted to suit either an experienced manager or a candidate with foundational experience looking to advance their career.

Responsibilities
  • Sourcing, negotiating, and procuring high-quality marine-grade materials, fabrics, and hardware from a network of suppliers.
  • Developing and maintaining strong, professional relationships with new and existing suppliers to ensure favourable terms and reliable delivery.
  • Managing inventory levels to optimise stock, prevent shortages, and minimise carrying costs.
  • Processing purchase orders accurately and ensuring timely delivery of all materials.
  • Conducting regular market research to stay informed of new materials, industry trends, and pricing.
  • Collaborating closely with the design and production teams to understand project requirements and material specifications.
  • Ensuring all procured goods meet the company’s strict quality standards through quality control checks.
  • Analysing and reporting on purchasing metrics, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role. The level of experience will determine the appointment as either Assistant or Manager.
  • Experience with in the marine, textiles, or a bespoke manufacturing industry is highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
