Precision Measurement Technician - 2nd Shift

Precision Measurement Technician (2nd Shift) – York, PA

Lead non‑destructive testing, coordinate measuring machine operation, instrument calibration, and quality audit duties for Navy systems manufacturing.

• Qualify and perform non‑destructive examinations (dye penetrant and magnetic particle tests).
• Setup, program and operate the coordinate measuring machine; adjust, calibrate, certify and date instruments.
• Check, audit, measure, record, repair and calibrate precision gauges, measuring devices, and related tooling, fixtures, jigs and dies.
• Investigate assignments for tooling, fixtures, production operations, government‑coded packaging and shipping, instrument calibration, repair, and receiving.
• Audit startup procedures and perform checks to detect malfunctions, oil filter and oil levels.
• Communicate audit findings and support new and proven operations.
• Set up surface plates, optical comparators and conduct hardness tests.
• Use precision measuring tools, gauges and related test equipment.
• Maintain surveillance over machines and audit inspections for machining and related operations.
• Perform audit checks on castings, gears, cleanliness, dryness, hardness and appearance.
• Follow material procedures, make recommendations and perform calculations.
• Maintain records, prepare purchase requisitions for approval and identify key characteristics requiring operator verification.
• Generate documents for operators to verify and assist improvements (e.g., total quality check sheets).
• Develop continuous improvement efforts through cross‑functional problem‑solving and implement, train and audit statistical process control (SPC).

• Experience investigating assignments for tooling, fixtures, production operations, repair, receiving operations and non‑destructive testing.
• Judgment to plan and execute testing sequences with limited guidelines.
• Moderate physical effort and ability to work continuously with light to average weight materials.
• High visual and mental concentration for dimensional checks, surface plate setups, optical comparator use, and inspection of close‑tolerance parts.
• Analytical ability related to SPC.
• Adherence to safety precautions to prevent injury to others.
• Tolerance for shop noise, fumes, and dirt.
• Awareness of potential lost time accidents involving hand, foot, ear or eye injury near material handling.
• Proficiency in shop mathematics, working from prints, tables, charts, codes and specifications.

• 3–4 years of industry manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of shop practices, machine operation, assembly methods and inspection procedures.
• Formal training equivalent to a registered apprenticeship program.

• Hourly rate: $35.45 plus $2.00 shift differential (effective 3/30/2026).
• Bonus eligible.
• Union bargaining unit position.
• Eligible for benefits on first day of employment.
