Job Description & How to Apply Below

Turnout Nation is seeking volunteer organizers for a Democracy Summer Internship. This is a remote, part-time role designed for students or recent graduates who want to make a measurable impact on voter turnout in the United States within their own community in the midterm elections.

About the Role:

This internship runs primarily over the summer, with a continued, lighter daily commitment through September, October, and November. The time commitment is approximately one hour per weekday during the summer, and less than that, but still daily, through November. Because of the limited time‑commitment, this role can easily be done alongside another job or internship.

Who You Are:
You are currently enrolled in a U.S. college or graduated within the last five years. Your field of study does not matter. You have a demonstrated interest in democracy, are highly organized, reliable, and able to follow through on commitments. You are comfortable working independently and communicating with peers.

What You Will Do:

Early in the summer, you will recruit ten people you know to serve as Voting Captains. Each of those Captains will identify ten friends they will personally help to vote. You will receive training on how to support your Captains to ensure that their ten friends follow through and vote.

About Turnout Nation:
Turnout Nation is a completely volunteer, nonpartisan organization. We have no paid positions. Our approach, known as the “Captain Method,” has been demonstrated through randomized controlled trials to be the most effective way to increase voter turnout.

Why This Matters:
This is a pivotal moment for democracy in the United States. If you want to contribute in a meaningful, measurable way, this is the way to do it. You will gain practical organizing experience, learn proven methods, and work alongside a committed group of cool people across the country.

How to Apply:

If you are interested, please email recruitment with the subject line “Democracy Summer”. Include in the body of the email your CV and/or a link to your Linked In profile and in fewer than fifty words, why you are interested, where you are from, and where you are in or were in college.

Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis and we will stop taking on Organizers as soon as the cohort is filled. We will announce that here on Linked In and let those who email us know.
