Environmental Program Coordinator

Glen Foerd seeks an energetic Environmental Program Coordinator to support its environmental programs. The Environmental Program Coordinator will oversee environmental programming and be responsible for volunteer coordination to facilitate the care and upkeep of the community garden and the rose garden. Working closely with the Environmental Program Manager, the Coordinator will help lead the River Ambassadors summer program, Public Boating, and Waterborne Boat building Program, and will oversee, schedule, and help train seasonal  addition to the above and listed responsibilities, this position offers a large degree of creative freedom.

The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Environmental Program Manager to grow, adapt, and define the environmental programing at Glen Foerd. This is a full-time, year-round position.

• Developing and implementing environmental programs and educational content for the public
• Coordinating with outside educators to bring a variety of programs to Glen Foerd
• Managing the care and upkeep of the community garden and rose garden through direct involvement, volunteer coordination, community building, and providing technical/administrative assistance
• Ongoing management of compost system and supporting our transition into the Community Compost Network
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with community members and partner organizations
• Assist the Environmental Program Manager with managing and teaching the following programs:
  River Ambassadors summer program, Public Boating, and Waterborne Boat building Program
• Serve as Glen Foerd’s representative to the Riverways Operations Committee
• Other duties as assigned

• Experience with kayaks, rowboats, and/or motorized boats. On-water safety certifications are a plus
• Love of the outdoors and passion for increasing public access to nature experiences
• At least two years of experience developing and implementing youth programs
• Demonstrated experience with public programs in partnership with community members
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Prior experience leading a team preferred
• Evening and weekend work is required several times a month
• Ability to travel to and from occasional offsite locations
• Valid driver’s license required

Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or a closely related field desired. Equivalent experience will also be considered
