Qualifications:

The Associate Director of Advancement for Parent Philanthropy and Donor Experience Officer (DXO) is responsible for developing strategies and successfully securing gifts from non-alumni parents for the University. Our goal is to raise between $1M and $1.5M from this pool of donors annually and the Associate Director is responsible for leading this effort and in many cases serving as the point person for securing the majority of these gifts.

Accordingly, the Associate Director will design and execute a plan that is both strategic and reflects the best practices of the profession.

The Associate Director will manage a portfolio composed of both qualified major gift prospects as well as a sizable pool of high-end annual fund prospects. Other Major Gift Officers will manage major gift parent prospects as well. Accordingly, the Associate Director will be responsible for managing their own portfolio [see below] as well as monitoring the progress made on those parent prospects managed by other Major Gift Officers to ensure that we meet our goals.

With respect to the pool of qualified major gift prospects, the Associate Director will be asked to move these prospects through the Donor Engagement Process [DEP] with guidance from their supervisor and colleagues.

With respect to the pool of unqualified potential major gift prospects, this Donor Experience Officer (DXO) will be part of a high-performing, donor-centered staff team responsible for assisting SJU Advancement to achieve its leadership annual giving goals[between $1,000 and $10,000]. Using a suite of technological tools, the DXO is responsible for developing personal relationships with an assigned portfolio of prospective donors that result in new gifts or increased support to the University.

Using email, social media, Blackbaud, video conferencing and phone, the DXO stewards donors, provides information that deepens their understanding and connection to the university, and solicits them for annual gifts. The DXO will report to the Director of Annual Fund Campaigns.

Additionally, the Associate Director will oversee the Parent Leadership Council (PLC), which is a Parent's Fundraising Committee composed of those parents who make annual gifts of $2,500 or more.

The Associate Director will also be responsible for running annual events designed to identify and cultivate parent donors. These events consist of Freshman Parent Welcome Events, Parent Leadership Council (PLC) Meetings;
Regional Events; and others as the Associate Director deems appropriate.

The Associate Director will focus on several key metrics and goals:

In order to be successful, the incumbent must be able to design a comprehensive annual plan, and as such, communicate the goals and key tactics to their colleagues for their support and buy-in. Additionally, the incumbent must be a dynamic fundraiser and manage their own portfolio well. Furthermore, they must possess the ability to work well with their colleagues so that fellow gift officers will be both knowledgeable and supportive of the Parent Philanthropy Program.

The Associate Director will be supported by a first-rate experienced team and fundraising support process designed to help them learn how to be a successful individual gifts fundraiser.
