RN - Registered Nurse- Observation Unit

Geisinger is hiring an Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) location. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care in a clinical environment, participate in interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to unit quality and safety initiatives.

Work schedule:

Days (7a.m.–7:30p.m.), with every other weekend and holiday duties. Weekly hours are 36.

• Complete patient assessments in accordance with scope of practice and unit standards.
• Address the physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
• Formulate, coordinate, and implement a plan of care, including education and discharge planning, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies per policy.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response.
• Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other team members to proactively resolve patient needs.
• Problem‑solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures concerning equipment and care processes.
• Participate in unit‑based decision‑making regarding evidence‑based practice utilization.
• Act as a team member working toward unit and organizational goals, being accountable for unit and system metrics.
• Participate in patient quality and safety education programs and activities aimed at improving departmental and organizational quality.
• Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and job‑specific obligations.

• Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required);
  Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
• Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania ( of Pennsylvania).
• Basic Life Support certification (default issuing body).
• Clinical skills, communication, interpersonal communication, organizing, preceptor skills, teamwork.
