Job Description

This Lab Technician position focuses on the accurate registration, handling, and processing of incoming samples within a laboratory environment. The role involves maintaining precise daily records, supporting quality control and regulatory requirements, and entering sample data into laboratory systems in a timely and accurate manner. The Lab Technician will learn to operate dairy testing instruments efficiently and help ensure that test results are properly validated and documented.

Responsibilities

* Register incoming samples accurately and promptly upon receipt.

* Maintain a neat, organized, and accurate record system of all work performed on a daily basis.

* Document laboratory activities and test results to support quality control and regulatory requirements.

* Enter sample data into laboratory information systems in a timely and accurate manner.

* Learn to operate dairy testing instruments efficiently under appropriate guidance and training.

* Validate test results by following established laboratory procedures and protocols.

* Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory safety guidelines at all times.

* Support routine laboratory tasks and assist with general lab maintenance as needed.

* Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of testing.

Essential Skills

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* 0-3 years of experience working in a laboratory or related environment.

* Foundational knowledge of biology and microbiology.

* Ability to enter data accurately and efficiently into laboratory systems.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.

* Ability to learn and operate dairy testing instruments and related laboratory equipment.

* Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.

* Reliable time management skills to meet testing and documentation deadlines.

* Willingness and ability to work the assigned shift schedule.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Preferred associate's or bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, or a related scientific field.

* College-level coursework in biology or microbiology is preferred.

* Experience working in a laboratory setting is beneficial.

* Comfort working with laboratory instruments and quality control procedures.

* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory setting focused on dairy testing and quality control. The position follows an evening shift schedule, working from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. The Lab Technician will work with dairy testing instruments and laboratory information systems, and will follow established safety protocols and standard operating procedures. The environment requires consistent attention to detail, careful handling of samples, and adherence to documentation standards to support regulatory and quality control requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
