Job Summary
The Quality Technician will perform visual, dimensional, and other non-destructive inspection at incoming, in-process and final inspection operations to drawings and specifications. The inspector will document inspections in compliance with approved procedures and instructions as well as generate quality assurance documentation packaged for customer consumption. While working towards positive resolution, the inspector will maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction while ensuring that SPX warranty exposure is minimized.
PrincipalDuties And Responsibilities
- Inspects machined parts, fabricated structural parts and plates, weldments, etc. according to drawings and specifications using manual measurement instruments / non-destructive means.
- Confirms completeness and validity of supplier inspection documentation.
- Prepares inspection records and reports.
- Performs non-destructive examinations of welds, piece parts and assemblies, as required, in accordance with approved procedures, drawings and work instructions.
- Manages gauge calibration process and procedures to comply with ISO
9001:2015 requirements. - Prepares quality notifications by documenting and communicating non-conforming conditions in the ERP system.
- Processes final visual inspection records for mixers and associated parts
- Establishes schedule of priorities for conducting inspections and execute assigned activities in accordance with production schedules. Works in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and without direct supervision. Works outside of routine scheduled hours may be required. 2nd shift work may be required for extended periods based on customer demand
- Compile quality control records as required to support customer traceability requirements.
- Maintain activity logs, schedules and performance measures using assigned tools.
- Participate in overall teamwork and recommend process and functional improvements.
- Engage in constructive conflict resolution.
- Operates Forklift and Utilize lifting equipment such as cranes, and high lifts
- Displays, and leads by example, the SPX Leadership standards.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to read blueprints and inspect mechanical parts using hand inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, etc.).
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to develop alternative solutions.
- Ability to relay technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to navigate within an ERP system (EPICOR)
- Software applications proficiency.
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
- High School graduate or equivalent; or minimum of five years related experience and/or training in inspection requiring ASNT Level I, II or III; or equivalent combination of education and experience

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move occasionally lift office and shop products and supplies, up to 40 pounds. Use of the appropriate PPE is required. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, bend, stoop, walk or work in high precarious places. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
