The Department of Physiology at the Perelman School of Medicine atthe University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during thattime period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of mass spectrometry-basedproteomics, including experience with LC-MS/MS instrumentation,experimental design, and proteomics data analysis.
Candidates should possess strong expertise in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and quantitative proteomics approaches. A strong record oforiginal peer-reviewed publications, scientific leadership,communication, and interpersonal skills is required. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include conducting independent and collaborative research in structural proteomics, chemical biology,and mitochondrial biology; developing and implementing massspectrometry-based workflows including chemical crosslinking massspectrometry (XL-MS), quantitative proteomics, and proteininteraction mapping; operating and maintaining advanced LC-MS/MSinstrumentation; analyzing complex proteomics datasets; mentoring students and trainees; contributing to manuscript preparation,grant writing, and collaborative research projects.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to establish andlead new structural proteomics and crosslinking mass spectrometrycapabilities within a newly established research program; developindependent research projects at the interface of proteomics,structural biology, neuroscience, and reproductive biology;collaborate with investigators across Penn
