The Associate Chemist prepares and analyzes environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to approved scientific methodology in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This position can be physical job that may require standing for long periods, working with organic solvents, laboratory glassware and specialized equipment.
Essential duties and responsibilities include performing routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include preparation of samples using standard techniques, performing chemical analysis using standard techniques, evaluation and quantification of data, recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor, performing routine instrument maintenance, competency in complex instrumentation instrument specific software (training is provided), responsible for keeping personal training documentation (training records, IDOC/DOC) current and accurate, responsible for timely completion of assigned/scheduled QC samples (MDL, LOD/LOQ, PT), as required, documents NCMs for projects with quality issues, understands and utilizes backlog reports to manage personal workload, works under close supervision using routine and standard methods, regular attendance and punctuality, responsible for general housekeeping in work area, proficient with IDOCs, for assigned methods carried out in the department, responsible for performing job functions in compliance with Eurofins Environment health and safety and quality assurance standards, demonstrates and promotes the company vision, inventories and stocks laboratory supplies, washes and inventories glassware, purges analyzed samples, assists in other areas of laboratory when needed, and additional duties as assigned.
Follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines. This role will focus on Metals Prep: organic preparation, metals preparation and analysis, PFAS sample preparation, HRMS sample preparation, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, radio chemistry, wet chemistry, high resolution preparation and analysis, low resolution preparation and analysis.
Position is 2nd shift, 3pm-1130pm, Tues-Sat. Training will be 1st shift M-F.
Basic minimum qualifications include a BS or BA in Chemistry or related field, Associate Degree, or 2 years of related laboratory experience in lieu of degree, professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English, and authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
